Plans and drawings for renovation options have been presented to the City Council for approval. $6.8 million was approved by the City Council on September 3, 2024. Now that funding is approved, the real work can begin. We will be giving our input to the City staff as they determine the final design of the project, so we can trim the original estimated construction budget by $500,000.
The Opera House organization has secured several grants to pay for needs that are specific to the Opera House performance space. We will be applying for more grants when we have more definite cost estimates. We will be initiating a Capital Campaign in the coming months. We also will be conducting an economic feasibility study and creating a business plan for the future operation of the Opera House after renovations are completed.
We are optimistic about the future of the Opera House and its role in the economic vitality of downtown Franklin, and we hope you'll continue to support us.
